Shoppe and Tailor has become renown in Toronto as the go-to expert for bridal gown alterations. Maegan and her assistant bridal specialist, Alysia Myette (formerly a seamstress for the famous Kleinfeld’s) love to work on these dresses not only because of the often complex challenges they can present, but because of the sentimentality of the garment and the importance it has to the brides they work with! Often they’ll personalize dresses to include things such as lace from a mother’s bridal gown, or completely reinvent a much-loved grandmother’s vintage dress by giving it a contemporary fit and flare for the new bride. Maegan and Alysia’s extensive experience with bridal clients has led to a boom in clientele seeking these services.
At Shoppe and Tailor we require a minimum of twelve weeks to complete bridal alterations. Within this time frame, we budget three to five fittings for every bride. Clients who desire special or customized alterations are recommended to begin the process earlier than 12 weeks.
Vintage deconstruction/reconstruction projects require a minimum of 16 weeks. Unfortunately, RUSH bridal services are not available.
Bridal consultations have a fee of $65. If you decide to move forward with our services this fee is put towards the total cost of alterations.
All bridal alteration projects begin at $350 plus HST. Total charges range depending on the number of changes, fabric type, number of layers and original construction. Our prices range from $350-$1000+. A proper quote is provided at the end of your first fitting.
*A special note on sample gowns* Resizing and repairing sample gowns can often require more labour than typical bridal alterations and result in higher charges. This is something to keep in mind when imagining your perfect end result.
